PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The major goal of this project is to provide a secure and hassle free business environment to women entrepreneurs in Swat. The purpose of establishing the Women Business Development Centre, Swat will be to accelerate the successful development of women entrepreneurs by providing them with an array of resources and services and promoting an entrepreneurial culture amongst women in Swat. 

BRIEF PROFILE OF SECTOR

Women entrepreneurs of Swat have great potential but their development is being hindered by socio political, traditional and cultural practices, lack of a single platform and non-availability of physical support from business support agencies. Despite of the issues being faced by women SMEs of the region, they are striving for their economic development through enterprise development on a domestic level. Recognizing that women in Swat are interested in starting their own businesses therefore any support to overcome their hindrances and other barriers in establishing their own businesses will have significance impact on their social and economic well being.

Access to the market is a serious issue for women SMEs of Swat because of social taboos and financial resources. They also lack access to the updated information regarding their product and market demand.

OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT

WBDC at Swat would provide support to women entrepreneurship ventures by removing their handicaps as regards to business infrastructure, business development support and spatial mobility as significant potential harnessed. WBDC would provide direct support to women SMEs. They will be provided a place to trade and exhibit the products made by them. Women will also be given trainings in skill oriented businesses (e.g. Beauticians, boutiques etc.). Mingora is the capital city of district and is easily accessible to women SMEs from all over Swat.
